With us seemingly also interested in Oxlade-Chamberlain and Kieron Gibbs are we thinking that buying their reserve team is somehow going to get us above their first team in the league, which is what we want and need to do? Somehow I don’t think it works that way . . .
Wouldn’t touch Walcott with a barge pole and how he gets something in the region of £140k per week to play every fourth game – when he’s not injured – is a mystery to me.
His figures are not brilliant, bordering on average, and I doubt very much if he’d be an improvement on what we’ve got. Certainly, for the money it would cost us, a very bad buy! For a total of £60m+ we could get somebody capable of much more impact that this guy!

I hope this is a joke? Why in the world would we want a player who is already 27 and has an injury record like his? We already have a player with a shaky fitness record. Don’t get me wrong, I love Sturridge and he is one heck of a talent, but it is totally frustrating when he is absent through injury so much. Why would be want to risk another player who has a very similar fitness record? As for the deal, 63 million. It does not matter that that is wages and fees. That is an outrageous amount for someone who could spend more time on the treatment table than he would on the field.
