@Janes. Subjectivity is something we encounter on a daily basis, proving there is no absolute right or wrong in most situations. For me Messi, Ronaldo and Ibrahimovic are 'prolific', Kane, Vardy, Lacazette, Batshuayi and those with similar end of season goal tallies are relatively prolific. Schurrle's 43% success rate (9 goals in 21 games) is not to me prolific for a striker. Tottenham midfielders Alli and Lamela have more goals than that. What is Marcus Rashford's goals per games ratio at eighteen years of age? Quite a bit more than Schurrle's. As I say, these views are always subjective. If you we managing Aston Villa last season you'd have been delighted with any player who scored nine goals.

'Schurrle who is hardly prolific with nine goals in twenty-one starts'
So nearly a goal every other game then?!
I'd say that was fairly prolific for a striker!

I disagree with your assessment of Schurrle as the perfect solution to Tottenham's striker situation (and also disapprove of the implication Pochettino is ready to sign this player - yet another misleading strapline to a football blog). That Lacazette is an out-and-out striker is a plus rather than a minus. I'm sure Pochettino is after just such a player. Also, Lacazette is very different from Kane, more of a compact Defoe-like player, who could play further forward and be on the pitch at the same time as Kane who can drop back a bit. And if Kane was not able to play or was rested, Lacazette is a player who can be relied upon to score goals, something you could not expect from Schurrle who is hardly prolific with nine goals in twenty-one starts. Spurs have a number of players in midfield who currently support Kane, what Spurs need now is another full-on striker not a utility man who can do a bit of this and a bit of that in the forward areas.
