This to me would signify that the possible "silly" season is about to encompass Liverpool. Don't get me wrong, there is nothing wrong with "bargains", but let's have it right. Hernanes may well be a quality player, but especially for someone who plays outside the league, risking a sizeable amount, especially for someone who is in the latter stages of his playing career, makes very little sense. It makes better financial sense to have a bigger outlay and buy someone who has many years to play, to learn, to adapt and to really prove the talent he has rather than to risk decent monies on someone, who might be talented, but is untested in the more physical premier league. Liverpool have experienced this phenomenon before, only to see it "crash and burn and I am struggling to understand why they seem ready to risk it again.
