So already, Spurs are looking to bring in a player who is older than 25. Whatever happened to the return of the previous buying policy? Like I stated before, the £10-15m level for young players is, presently, a constantly moving target. A solid striker will cost more than that, so it seems we are shooting ourselves in the foot.
If the intention next season is to make a serious assault on the top four places of the Premier League, then Spurs have to show that commitment. I could appreciate buying lesser known players for the future. However, a "serious assault" clearly means immediately, not two or three years from now. I suggested before that not one striker is needed but two. Goalscorers are what makes a team - providing tangible results will illustrate progression in moving forward. The Europa League is one thing, but Champions League is a different animal altogether.
Spurs fans are rapidly growing weary of always getting close, but never quite making it. Briefly, it is like asking someone to choose between eating out at a local Harvester restaurant or a Michelin star restaurant in London?
Jay Rodriguez or Christian Benteke (NOT Saido Berahino) are proven Premier League strikers, and are within the age level of 26. Stick with youthful players who will be at the club for a few years and establish a set line up. Defence needs attention of the highest level. A new left and right back, an experienced central defender possibly two - not sure Jan Vertonghen will be around for much longer, as he also seeks Champions League football. Hate to say it, but I feel a new, young goal keeper is needed, as it looks like Hugo Lloris and, perhaps, Michel Vorm may be departing. Timo Horn or Victor Valdes had been touted more recently. But above all this summer, Spurs' mission impossible - GET MORGAN SCHNEIDERLIN. He will get our midfield moving properly.
I would say Poch and Paul Mitchell will have their hands full with a plethora of activity at the Lane this summer. COYS!!!!!!!!!!!
