The final result pretty much typifies Liverpool's season. As the narrative says Liverpool do have the necessary firepower to be able to see them through, but for anyone who watched the game, for the most part, there were entirely too many players that choked and just still not show up. To their credit, Aston Villa did show up and looked lively, aggressive and took the game to Liverpool. Delph and Benteke did play extremely well. That could not be said however, for Henderson or Gerrard to name a couple. I was surprised that Gerrard did not get taken off at half time. He had a very disappointing game and did not really impact the game at al. Not the way I am sure he was hoping his last possible chance of a trophy was going to play out. The Lambert substitution right at the end was made way too late to really make an impact. By the time the final whistle went, I am not even sure he touched the ball. Lovren in defense did not really have a good game. He also missed a good opportunity in front of goal at the other end. He has not impacted the defense like it was hoped. Well, the last opportunity for a possible trophy this season is gone. Rodgers needs to offload and buy carefully and mindfully in the off season.
