He managed to do something in under 2 minutes that Balotelli fails to do. He would still have been on the edge of the 18 yard box instead of trying to make something happen. The equalizer was another product of poor defensive work and poor follow-up allowing Gayle to get a little space with Mignolet helpless. Despite the fact that Palace are in the bottom 3, they are giving Liverpool a hard time and are deserving of being level. Liverpool do really need to step it up in the second half with no-one really stepping up and trying to really influence the game. I could not help but feel that for the most part, Liverpool looked way below par and almost, dare I say, “amateur-ish”. Certainly not a performance of a team who aspire to make a claim for the title.
