It’s great to see all opinions being respected, as opinions are fully entitled to all true supporters . However , from a mangers point of view (COLENSO FC , South Aftica) , I’d like to extend my own opinion on this matter .
United currently face two problems , one rather small , infact more a blessing than a problem , and the second catastrophically large !
Problem one is what formation should be used in order to best utilise the nuclear attacking force at our disposal . RVP may have scored against leister but did little else during that game , he’s had literally only two good seasons as a striker in the top flight in his career , one for arsenal and one for United . Had his career not been constantly stunted by injuries he could may well have gone on to be a Thierry Henry type of legend striker , but that requires week in week out , season in season out , world class performance . At 31 years of age , that ship has sailed . RVP has lost his pace and energetic burst and at 31 I cannot blame him , but I can bench him . The formation should rest in an unconventional yet highly effective 4 2 1 3 .As Rooney , sometimes frustratingly , loves going deep to either fetch the ball or collect to move up , FALCAO would remain the out and out striker . Adding to that , during rooneys spells of dropping deep , di Maria would be afforded the opportunity to move even further up , drift attacking space or even be available to collect a ball in the box and finish . Mata\januzaj should play the “1”in this formation , the role of a crafty minded floating attacking mid. The two in central midfield would comprise of various available combinations including fletcher,blind,carrick and Herrera to choose from up until more quality in strootman/ Vidal is added .
Problem two is defence , and it is an absolute mess. After losing both vidic and Ferdinand , united should have definately gone all out to sign an experienced , MADE, CB. Itis imperative 4 are played at the back, and Rojo is no CB.fullbacks we have in large quality , yet they mean nothing to a strong defense without commanding experienced CBsof which we have NONE .the proof lies in the pudding with Blackett ,completely and utterly inexperienced , being a starter for all 5 games . Yes, jones may be injured ,but even he still needs to be mentored further before we go about labeling him our defensive lieutenant . Time and time again out defenders are found out of position and off guard . Vermaelen would have been a great signing simply based on experience , and if rumours remain true , Hummels is truly the missing piece here .till such time it is up to our coaching staff to ensure the defense we have now ,KNOW AND UNDERSTAND their duties .

Van gaal manchester united can never succed under that formation and van persle already finish we need sharp striker with falcao and never subtitude your key player when the match is still tough so our coach made a great mistake on our last match.

It id true that Manchester United need two seasoned central defenders and a box to box midfielder but I do not see where it is going. The formation is a serious let down. They seem not yo know how to play under attack

There are better players that position who who can be acquired even cheaply. Man u needs revamping.
