Overall the performance lacked potency and fluidity. They struggled against a Villa side that showed imagination and togetherness while Liverpool at times struggled to find passes through a midfield and defense that stood solid and looked dangerous on the break. I only wish Liverpool’s defense had shown itself as solid. Even towards the latter stages of the match with Liverpool spending large portions of time in the Villa half, there were entirely too many passes sideways and backwards, little penetration. I know it is early in the season, but you don’t win titles with performances like this today.
