Cristiano Ronaldo Delivers Fantastic Performance against Malmo

One of the brightest stars of Real Madrid – Christiano Ronaldo – delivered one of his greatest performances ever as he scored a total of four goals in the clash between his club and Malmo. The match ended 8-0 with a smashing victory for Real Madrid, breaking even with the same-result win of Liverpool over Besiktas in 2007. This makes the result one of the largest victories that have ever happened in the entire history of the Champions League group stage.

The 30-year-old Portuguese shared he was happy with his play after scoring four times in the Tuesday match. Currently he has scored the record 11 goals in a group stage of the Champions League. As a matter of fact, the four-goal haul of the forward was the first time a player of Real Madrid has reached such an achievement since Ferenc Puskas did the same in a club’s match against Feyenoord fifty years ago.

Ronaldo scored netted the ball three times in a total of 11 minutes in the two half-times of the game. Then, he scored his 88th goal in the Champions League. The rest of the goals came after Karim Benzema managed to score a hat-trick, and Mateo Kovacic netting once. Still, Ronaldo is the player with the largest number of goals in the competition ever. As already mentioned, he has 11 goals in six games within the group stages of the competition.

The Portuguese said in an interview that the game was a good one and added: “On a personal level, I am happy for another record.”

Regardless of the fact that the season has been a bit bumpy for Ronaldo, the Real Madrid star has been recently associated with an eventual move to Ligue 1 by entering the ranks of the French grand Paris Saint-Germain. He shared that he simply got used to various rumours about his future, but his plans were related to staying in the Spanish team for now. Ronaldo also expressed his gratitude to the entire club, saying it helped him a lot since his arrival in Real Madrid, and he is currently happy where he is.

The truth is that the player had his ups and downs over the 2015/2016 season. Still, Ronaldo himself said criticism was something normal for a club such as Real Madrid, especially at times when things are not going as well as they should do.

Real Madrid have managed to qualify for the knock-out stages of the championship as winners in Group A. Malmo finished last. The French Ligue 1 No.1 team – Paris Saint-Germain ranks second, while the third place in the Group Stage is taken by Shakhtar Donetsk.
