Juventus Determined to Keep Rugani

Juventus announced their plans not to sell their defender Daniele Rugani. However, there’s a possibility of Rugani to be transferred on loan to rival Serie A club, Napoli. Recently, rumours emerged Napoli’s chairman, Aurelio De Laurentiis, considers paying a substantial sum for the Italian defender’s transfer, this January.

The defender enjoyed a successful spell at Empoli and is currently considered one of the most promising football players in Italy. He was transferred to the Scudetto champions as a loanee, in the summer of 2012. As he showed great promise, while on loan, Juve decided to keep him permanently. The Old Lady bought the centre back from Empoli in February, this year.

Napoli’s president, De Laurentiis, is reported to be more than willing to invest in the 21-year old defender. Such rumours can be explained by the fact, the Partenopei’s head coach, Maurizio Sarri, unlike Juve, played Rugani in every single league game, this past season.

Furthermore, when recently asked who is the best young player in Serie A at the present moment, Sarri did not hesitate to name Rugani, as his favourite. Sarri continued by praising Rugani’s concentration and potential. The coach shared he was the one, who helped then 18-year old defender seal his deal with Empoli. Sarri went on to predict Rugani is on his way to become one of the most important players in Italian football.

However, Napoli is not the only club to show interest in young Rugani. Premier League clubs Arsenal and Manchester United have been linked with the possible loan of the Italian. Reportedly, Juventus are considering a temporary transfer, but will not concede to sell their defender to any other club, be it Italian or from abroad.

Now that Juve seem to consider Rugani’s possible loan, the two clubs’ chances of signing the player for a move in the next transfer window, have substantially increased. Such a transfer may be just what Rugani needs, as he has played only two minutes with Serie A champions this term.

Juve are bent on keeping him in their team, regardless of how much money they are offered. Juventus’ board of directors has unanimously agreed on retaining Rugani for at least a few more years. Apparently, they are biding their time to sell the defender. As Rugani has shown great promise, his value is expected to rise considerably in the future. Juve are waiting for the right moment to come, so they can bid a higher price for the talented player.
