Arsenal's £110,000-a-week ace given ultimatum over fresh deal

Arsenal have reportedly told Aaron Ramsey that he could make way from the club this summer unless he agrees to a new contract. The Wales international has just one year left on his existing contract but the Gunners have now offered him a possible extension.
According to The Telegraph, the Gunners’ hierarchy are prepared to reward the Welshman with a fresh five-year contract with the promise of a substantial increase on his £110,000-a-week wages. However, the board want the midfielder to decide on the proposal at the earliest opportunity and his failure do so may witness his possible exit from the Emirates Stadium.
The north London giants found themselves in a similar situation last summer where they made the mistake to allow Alexis Sanchez enter the final year of his contract and they are keen to avoid a similar instance with Ramsey, who could command a sizeable transfer value through his sale.
Back in August 2017, Sanchez had been desperate to pursue a move to Manchester City prior to the transfer deadline but the Gunners could not find a suitable replacement in time to sanction the Chilean’s departure.
Thereafter, ex-Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger was forced to offload Sanchez midway through the season in a swap deal involving Henrikh Mkhitaryan from Manchester United and the French tactician admitted that the player’s uncertainty had hampered the overall mood around the squad.
Unlike Sanchez, Ramsey has shown more eagerness to stay put with the Capital outfit and in a recent interview for Wales, the 27-year-old admitted his excitement of playing under new boss Unai Emery next term.
Ramsey has always had a mixed reception among the Gunners’ faithful, who have watched the highs and lows of the midfielder in the club’s shirt and there are suggestions that the Welshman could become a future captain at Arsenal.
