Jose Mourinho reveals his possible transfer plans for the midfield

Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho has suggested that the club may seek to recruit a couple of central midfielders when the transfer window reopens during the summer transfer window.
The Red Devils have witnessed their best-ever points tally since the Sir Alex Ferguson era this season and they have still ended short of the Premier League title – owing to Manchester City’s dominance for most of the campaign.
In a report covered by M.E.N, Mourinho highlighted that United may pursue two recruits in the centre of the park with Michael Carrick and Marouane Fellaini likely to end their association with the club.
Carrick has already announced his decision to retire from professional football with a view to taking up a coaching role while Fellaini, on the other hand, has yet to resolve his future with the Red Devils.
Mourinho has publicly praised the Belgian on multiple occasions in order to tempt him into an extension but with just two months left on his contract, the midfielder is supposedly leaning towards a Bosman exit.
Both Carrick and Fellaini have not played dominant roles under Mourinho this term but the Portuguese is aware of the need of midfield depth considering the injury woes which appear to hamper them every season.
During the 2016/17 season, Mourinho had to deal with regular injuries at the heart of the backline but this campaign has been more tedious with the Portuguese having to contend with regular absentees in the defensive and midfield departments.
Moving aside, Manchester United progressed to the FA Cup final after their 2-1 comeback win over Tottenham Hotspur at the Wembley and they now have a final date versus Chelsea next month which Mourinho will relish the most – owing to his past association.
Prior to that, their focus will certainly lie on securing the second spot behind Manchester City in the standings and they can firm the position further with a victory over Arsenal next weekend. United require a maximum of seven points from their remaining four matches to attain the runner-up position.
