Arsenal manager updates on Jack Wilshere's contractual situation

Jack Wilshere ReturnArsenal manager Arsene Wenger has revealed that Jack Wilshere has yet to commit his future to the north London club. The England international has just two months remaining on his existing deal but the Gunners boss remains optimistic that the midfielder will extend his contract.
In a report covered by Arsenal’s official website, Wenger was addressing the media ahead of the West Ham United game where he was posed a question about Jack Wilshere’s future.
As always, the French tactician highlighted that talks are still in progress with Wilshere and when asked about a possible deadline, the 68-year-old confirmed that a final decision should be made before the summer World Cup.
Wilshere has not been performing to the best of his abilities of late but he remains a crucial member of the Gunners squad with his leadership skills being talked up by Wenger on numerous occasions.
However, the Englishman does not remain the sole cause of concern for the Gunners ahead of the summer – with the club yet to resolve the future of Aaron Ramsey, who has been hugely influential during the knockout stages of the Europa League.
The 27-year-old has won over the supporters with crucial performances against the likes of CSKA Moscow and AC Milan but talks over a probable extension beyond June 2019 could wait until Wilshere has made his final decision.
Arsenal are out of contention for a top four finish in the Premier League this season but they can still salvage some pride by winning the rest of their matches. Burnley, in particular, are right on their trail with a two-point deficit and Wenger would surely want to avoid dropping any further than sixth in the standings.
Meanwhile, the Capital outfit still have the opportunity of qualifying for the Champions League group stage via an Europa League triumph but they first need to overcome competition favourites Atletico Madrid in a double-legged semi-final tie.
