Transfer Season and Betting On Players

The 2017/2018 summer transfer season is fast coming to an end with roughly three weeks left before curtains come down across all European leagues.
However, a lot of business still needs to be done and agents are running around to finalise the end of transfer season deals.
England
The biggest transfer news in England is linked to the record breaking Neymar to PSG transfer. Liverpool was approached by Barcelona in a move by playmaker, Philippe Coutinho, three times in a row now. However, Liverpool has been firm in its resolution to keep hold of the diminutive Brazilian, but with a reported third (Mirror) bid of over 100 million Euros, it’s going to be a real test for Liverpool to reject it again. You can place your football bets here on SkyBet who boasts 11/9 odds on Coutinho moving to Barcelona and 11/6 odds for the Brazilian to stay put at Liverpool.
News coming from Arsenal is that the club is looking to offload a couple of players as the squad seems to be overcrowded at the moment. Speaking at a press conference, Arsenal manager, Arsene Wenger, reiterated that some players have to go before the end of the transfer period (Telegraph). As many would argue that there is simply too much that has to take place and an overflow of competition is unhealthy for the team, as is a lack of competition. Among those expected to depart this summer are Lucas Perez and Jack Wilshere.
Lucas Perez already handed in a transfer request (Goal), hence all that is remaining now, is for a suitor to match Arsenal’s asking price of £13.6 million. Two clubs are lining up to scoop the Spain international whose desire is to play in the 2018 world cup in Russia. Deportivo La Coruna is reportedly interested (Mail), but the team is being put off by the asking price. Newly promoted side, Newcastle, also expresses an interest, but any move is only viable if they are able to let go of some of their players. As it stands, their 25-man squad for the premier league has already reached maximum capacity.
Spain
The biggest transfer news in Spain resides in Barcelona. PSG’s world record transfer for Neymar, broke up the deadly MSN attacking trio. As a result, Barcelona seeks a replacement for the skilful Brazilian and as per reports, they are targeting Borussia Dortmund’s Ousmane Dembele (Mail) and Liverpool’s Philippe Coutinho (Mirror link provided above) as potential replacements. According to bookies, Ousmane Dembele has 5/4 odds of joining Barcelona, while Coutinho has 11/9 odds to move to Barcelona.
Real Madrid has seen a number of players leave the club this summer including Pepe, Fabio Contrao, Mariano and Alvaro Morata. Further to this, they have managed to replace Pepe and Fabio Contrao by signing young prodigy Theo Hernandez from rivals Athletico Madrid, but are further seeking replacements. Monaco breakthrough star Kylian Mbappe (Mail), has been on the radar of the European champions and it is expected that a move may materialise before the end of the transfer season. Paddy Power has 6/4 odds on the young French star leaving Monaco for Real Madrid.
France
Having already bagged the most expensive player in the history of football, PSG is looking to break the bank again with the acquisition of Monaco’s French forward Kylian Mbappe. As reports in the French media suggest, PSG has lined up a £163 million move (Times) and discussed terms with the young French star are already underway.
