Chelsea are flying high in the Premier League after three wins a in a row and have what it takes to win the title under the management of Italian boss Antonio Conte.
The former Juventus manager splashed the cash in the summer transfer window to sign big money players like Michy Batshuayi, N’Golo Kante and David Luiz to improve his strike-force, midfield and the back line respectively.
However, Conte is still looking to amplify the quality of his defense because Luiz was mainly his second choice.
He wanted Antonio Rudiger from AS Roma but the German international suffered an injury right before the European Championships and Chelsea dropped their interest.
Now, according to Daily Mail, Chelsea are ready to seal the signing of Rudiger in a deal worth 35 million pounds ($42.5million) in the winter transfer window.
The 23-year-old star is mainly a central defender who can also play effectively int eh right back position. Last season, Rudiger featured in 30 league games for the Serie A side and scored 2 goals.
For now, Chelsea have the likes of Cahill, Terry, Zouma, Luiz and even Ivanovic who can play in the central defense. Do they really need Rudiger?

I don’t think it will be a wise move to sign him since we have a younger and talented cb in Andrea Christiansen who is on loan in Germany. Surely it would discourage his ambition for wanting to come back. We won’t be sending a good message to all our young studs.
It won’t be necessary spending big money while the loanee youngster can fill the gap.
I agree with Lloyd that we have to consider our youngesters who are on loan than keeping on buying expensive players. If Conte can pair Luiz and Zouma at centre back and keep Cahill and Terry as subs up to end of the season we will be happy.
Chelsea should stop buying players and give chance to the loanee players.Also conte must pair Mikel and Kante.
Give chance to youngsters
We have good defenders who are on loan why not to bring them back rather than wasting money. Zuoma is back from injury why buy another player conte?
No need of buying new defender while they are loaned players who can do even better.
