£22.9million Agreement in Principle Was Reached – Spurs Must Now Seal Star Deal

Pochettino-TottenhamTottenham are looking to sign a new attacking midfielder in this summer’s transfer window, however, Pochettino must focus on securing new deals for his current top performers first.
Danish playmaker Christian Eriksen is in the limelight and reports (Evening Standard) suggest that the former Ajax star has rejected a new contract offer put forward by the North Londoners.
As per reports published a few months back, Spurs actually agreed a deal in principle with Eriksen.
Back in February, Football Insider revealed that Spurs have reached an agreement in principle with the 24-year-old versatile playmaker over a new deal worth £22.9million.
If such an agreement was really reached between the player and the club then the contract rejection seems baffling. We can draw two conclusions. Either the report provided by Football Insider is not concrete or Spurs’ new offer for Eriksen did not match the terms mentioned above.
In all fairness, Eriksen is Tottenham’s star playmaker and deserves to earn over £80,000-a-week. Spurs must act swiftly to secure a new deal with him as soon as possible.

Eriksen has said more than once that he’s not looking to move…he just wants decent money. I read t’other day that he earns less than half of what shelvey gets at Newcastle!! That ain’t right and I don’t blame him one bit for rejecting the joke offers Levy must be putting in front of him. If Levy went out to buy someone of Eriksen’s quality now, he’d have to pay them a lot of money to sign, so just give the kid what he undoubtably deserves.

I am sorry, but as good as Eriksen is, no player is worth £80,000 a week!! Keith Burkinshaw was spot on when he left our beloved Club for the last time and was heard muttering that ‘there used to be a Football Club over there!’ Commercialism, business and greed have, I am afraid ruined our game. Having said that, I will be back at The Lane again very shortly. Hoping we have a stomping season! COYS!!
