Liverpool can Seal Quality Klopp Favorite Signing for Just $2million

Jurgen Klopp DortmundSince Spanish manager Rafael Benitez left the club back in 2010, Liverpool have been inconsistent at the back and Jurgen Klopp has got a huge task of reinforcing his defense this summer.
The former Borussia Dortmund manager has already agreed the signing of Joel Matip and the Cameroonian star will be joining the Merseysiders from Bundesliga side Schalke.
Moreover, the Reds are also interested in signing Bayer Leverkusen center half Jonathan Tah.
Adding to that, Jurgen Klopp was at the Copa America Centenario and monitored the performances of River Plate defender Gabriel Mercado. The German manager is said to be a keen admirer of the South American full back as per the statement made by the president of the Argentine club (Infobae).
Liverpool are not the only club looking to secure his signature. Mexican side Monterrey are also interested in hiring the services of the quality 29-year-old defender (Ole).
As per the provided Ole link, the La Albiceleste star has a termination clause of just $2million in his contract.
In your opinion, should Liverpool sign Gabriel Mercado?

I am all for experience but especially coming from a foreign country and a foreign league, I think that 29 years old, might be a little too old for this much new!

Given a toss-up between signing a RB who can play CB, aged 29, for two million or a specialist CB for considerably more I’d rather make the bank manager sob.
What is our obsession with versatility? Hansen played CB and was brilliant, Phil Neal played FB and was brilliant, Graeme Souness was midfield and was brilliant and Rushie played up front and was brilliant.
We sometimes play Milner as defensive midfielder, a position he isn’t really suited to, and he isn’t brilliant there. We sometimes played Steve Nicol at CB and he wasn’t brilliant in that position. We sometimes play Henderson as defensive midfielder and he isn’t brilliant there (mind you, he isn’t brilliant further forward either!). If this Mercado is one of the best CBs in the world, at this price, get him. If not, don’t!
Apparently, there are quite a few top-notch CBs in Germany with asking prices of about £10m – £12m so I’d rather get one of those than somebody more used to playing FB but who CAN, if he must, “do a job” in the middle! Versatility can easily be a Jack of all trades . . . master of none!
Whilst talking about potential incoming transfers . . . did anybody else see how good William Carvalho was for Portugal? We need a defensive midfielder and he is a superb one!
