  1. RED PHIL says:

Well, on paper we might have had the better team but on that bloody green stuff the wheels fell off big-style!
The team which imposes itself on the other team normally wins and, in the first half, we did just that. better possession, more chances created, one goal. All rosy in the garden!
Within moments of restarting yet another inept defensive moment saw them retake the initiative and, from that moment on, it was utter drivel for the Reds.
Moreno was shocking, Coutinho and Firmino were invisible, Lallana and Milner ran about a bit but contributed very little and only Emre Can looked interested.
With defensive error after error we looked simply inept at the back, we didn’t create anything in the second half and when such performances occur in such important games you really have to wonder about the quality in the team. Where on Earth was the Dortmund and Villarreal vitality and spirit?
If Gotze has said he won’t move to any club not playing in the CL then we are buggered as far as he is concerned . . . and I expect him to now move to either Arsenal or Dortmund.
What now? With our record for forward thinking I can imagine another contract for 35-year-old Toure and probably a bid for his slow-as-treacle-moving-uphill brother who is a mere boy at 33-and-a-half.
    God, I’m depressed!
How can almost an entire team self-destruct for half of a Cup Final when easily on top at half-time? The midfield were utter garbage and the defence even worse.
Sorry, the embryonic shoots of a new future we thought we saw have proven to be a false dawn.
I’ll fondly remember the Dortmund and Villarreal games but now with a bit of reality thrown in for good measure . . . we are crap!
