Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal seems too heavily interested in bringing his compatriot Nigel de Jong to Old Trafford.
The former Manchester City star is the strong defensive midfield star Van Gaal wants in his squad and as per reports, it can safely be said that the deal is almost done.
According to Mirror, Nigel de Jong has rejected a contract extension with his current club AC Milan and is ready to return to Manchester, this time to join the Red Devils.
Van Gaal knows all about the qualities of de Jong as the former citizen star was a key member of Netherlands squad in Brazil last year under the management of Man United boss.
As per the provided link, United have held talks with the representatives of Nigel de Jong who are looking to seal a deal of €5.5million a year for the 30 year old star.
Not just that, Mirror claim that Louis van Gaal has absolutely no problem with the demands and the club is willing to match that for de Jong to seal Manchester United move.
In such a scenario, with all things going according to plan, United must not waste more time in securing the deal for de Jong who will arrive as a free agent.
Currently, United do have Blind and Carrick for DM role but they are better at deep lying playmaking and none of them is as solid a holding midfielder as de Jong.

Apart from Depay and Firmino Man u should forget about the rest players. Is time we look into our academy to bring up palyers instead of wasting money. Of late Jones and Smalling are forming a good partnership, and LVG should give them time to gel instead of bringing expensive players. We have MC Nair and Tom Thorpe coming up as future quality defenders that’s how we made mistake allowing Pogba to leave because of lack of first team and now we are still making the same mistake if Andres Pereira leaves.
De Jong is old. Why can’t Man United try its former player – Pogba?
Man U need a player like Dejong against teams like Chelsea, Man City and Stoke City as Man U lacks a hard tackling midfielder of his Dejong’s quality. Carrick is 33 and he’s still doing well let alone sb who’s 30years. Sami Khedira would’ve been a better option but he’s prone to injury. Look at all the dutch defenders at the last world cup, they are all doing well in their various club and they were all bought at cheap price.we need him to protect our back four.
Van Gaal has his own reason for going to Nigel de Young, but l would have prefer Pogba, Varratti, than him because aged is not on his side again period.
Van Gaal knows better that Blind is not a call natural defensive midfielder to start with, his best position is left wing back defender, Carrick on the pitch makes it easy for the team in general as a midfield detactorship general, so we need Pogba back or Varratti period.
Yes LVG he Nigel is a quality player and we also need quality DM like Nigel.
Pogba is too expensive as his price is 75million pounds, for what? What are we doing with it. I would’ve preferred Sami Khedira just that is injury prone. Look at luke as expensive as he’s what has been his contribution to the team this season? Is not by buying expensive players. Man u should get Alex Song as a back up.
I think nigel de yong is a quality player but I think we should be signing much quality players I think we should sign
