Manchester United supporters are still waiting to find out who will the club sign to fill the void in central defense.
It seems that Feyenoord’s Stefan de Vrij is the answer to that question as according to reports, the Dutch international is set to join Red Devils.
As per Metro, the $17m rated star is set to join Louis van Gaal at United to become the manager’s first signing since he started working with the English giants.
De Vrij featured in every game of the World Cup for the national side and was the key member of the squad that finished third in Brazil.
The mentioned price is a bargain for such a talented 22 year old star and with Lazio also interested in luring him, Man United must act fast to get his signature.
As per the provided link, Borussia Dortmund center back Mats Hummels has been Van Gaal’s prime target for the central defense but the German international has no intentions of leaving his club this summer.
Even if United can lure Stefan de Vrij, they must still look for another center back for further reinforcement and depth much needed after the departure of Ferdinand and Vidic.
On the other hand, Man United are also looking to sign another central midfield to partner Herrera as Carrick’s injury will mean he will miss the start of the season.
Last but not the least, with the potential departure of Patrice Evra, United want another left back in the form of Daley Blind as well.

Pls LVG, Man utd captain should be given to a player who
has the interest of the Club At heart,not to one who only wants to be given half of the Club’s income, like Wayne Rooney. He doesn’t love the Club but the money in the Club.
