Liverpool Favorites to Retain Top Spot

Liverpool Favorites to Retain Top SpotBrendan Rodgers side have started the new season in fantastic fashion and only lost their perfect winning record on Monday against Swansea.
Nevertheless, Liverpool are still on top of the table and are likely to stay there at the end of this week.
Reds will face Southampton at Anfield tomorrow, a game they should win comfortably if they do not come up with massive blunders.
The merseysiders have earned 10 points from the first four league games and lead North Londoners Arsenal and Tottenham by single point.
Liverpool will be favorites to retain their top spot this weekend despite having a few key injury concerns that include the likes of Glen Johnson and Brazilian star Phil Coutinho.
In the last 8 league fixtures, Liverpool have only conceded in 2 games and their defense is one of the main reasons behind the successful run.
Liverpool need to be as consistent if they want big things this season.
More good news for the Anfield faithful is that their star striker Luis Suarez needs to sit out only this game against Southampton and then he will be back for the reds.
The Uruguayan would be anxious to get onto the field and start tormenting defenders from the word go.

When I think of ‘smart’ business, I think of a club like Borussia Dortmund: bringing through youth from the Academy, finding promising young players, looking at talented players with something to prove and scouting Europe for players who could be on the cusp of moving into that upper echelon of performance. Dortmund have done this brilliantly under the guidance of Jürgen Klopp and are now one of the best teams in Europe. So, whilst Liverpool were disappointed to have lost out on one of their main summer transfer targets in Henrikh Mkhitaryan to Borussia Dortmund, the fact they were scouting the same player should be a sign of encouragement.
I think it can be argued that Simon Mingolet, Mamadou Sakho, Luis Alberto and Tiago Ilori are players who fit that ‘smart’ profile, though only time will tell if they prove to be ‘smart’ buys in the way that Coutinho and Sturridge have been thus far, two players who also fell into the ‘smart’ profile when signed in January
