United Move for another Unrealistic Option after Cesc Failure

United Move for another Unrealistic Option after Cesc FailureThe English Champions are finding it hard to convince top transfer targets to move to Old Trafford this summer. Having lost out on Thiago Alcantara who recently signed for Bayern Munich, Manchester United have perhaps also lost the battle to somehow lure his compatriot and former Gunner Cesc Fabregas as well.
Reports suggest that now David Moyes is looking to sign Real Madrid’s Luka Modric to fill the void left by Paul Scholes in center midfield. However, even there the situation does not change much and it seems that United are moving for another unrealistic option after Cesc failure.
Despite having funds at his disposal, David Moyes has mainly suffered disappointment as yet in the transfer market.
They were close to sealing a deal for Thiago Alcantara. The Spaniard was not happy with his bit part role with Barcelona and United were probably the best solution for him. In came his former manager and ruined everything for United, much to the despair of their supporters.
Moving for Fabregas was always going to be a case of suffering disappointment, not just because he was an ex gunner, it is because Barcelona do not want another top CM to leave the squad, that will only decrease depth and quality. Adding to that, unlike Alcantara, Cesc has been happy in Spain with his boyhood club.
Nevertheless, United came up with mammoth bids but the new manager Martino is also reluctant to let Cesc go knowing his importance to the side.
Now, United are reportedly moving again for Luka Modric. Manchester United have tried to sign him in previous transfer windows as well but Spurs were reluctant to let the player leave for another premier league club and were asking for a very high price. Eventually, the Croat departed for Real Madrid last summer.
Modric is again an unrealistic option for several reasons and Red Devils will perhaps waste their time moving for him. One, Reports suggest United are offering 25 million pounds. Madrid only signed him last season for 33 million and so the price is unrealistic.
The most important factor is that new Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti is a big admirer of Croatian. Last summer the former Rossoneri boss claimed:

“I did not need to see him (Modric) at the Euro to know how much talent he has. I knew his capabilities before. Now he has confirmed his high quality for those who did not know.”

If that is not enough then Ancelotti was also determined to land the midfielder during his time at Chelsea, confirmed by a source close to the Croatian back then by Zdravko Mamic, the Dinamo Zagreb vice-president.
Therefore, David Moyes should ignore Modric and must move for a realistic option because fans are getting desperate for a big name signing as their rivals have already secured a few already.

  1. Deegullic says:

We only need a passing midfielder, who ever come should be capable of doing that.

  2. You say United try for unrealistic targets but what you should remember is the squad United already have, the players they bring in have to be better than what they already have and those players are few and far between and because of this United’s options are limited to a few players that are highly sort after!
