Borussia Dortmund’s star striker Robert Lewandowski has been heavily linked with a move away from club and numerous top sides are chasing his signature. Bayern were favorites to land him but things have changed after the comments from club director Michael Zorc.
The European Champions wanted to secure their second big name signing after already signing Robert’s team mate Mario Goetze. However, as things stand, Manchester United are now favorites to sign Lewandowski.
Michael Zorc claimed:
“We have communicated to the player and his advisers that we will not agree to a transfer to FC Bayern this summer”
The statement was somewhat de-motivating for Lewandowski who said that he wants a new challenge next season. Perhaps, he may still get that in premier league with Manchester United.
Dortmund want their star to honor his contract and Jurgen Klopp will love to keep the Polish star but that is only beneficial if he renews his contract. Else, Lewa’s contract will expire at the end of next season and he may leave on a free transfer. Something Klopp will never want.
Besides Bayern Munich, mainly three English clubs are reportedly interested in Lewandowski i.e. Chelsea, Manchester City and Manchester United. The first two for now are heavily interested in Napoli’s hitman Edinson Cavani.
Although, United already have the likes of Rooney, Hernandez, van Persie and Welbeck upfront but Wayne and Javier are reportedly heading towards exit door and Lewandowski’s addition may prove to be as fruitful as RvP deal last summer. The Polish star scored no less than 36 goals last season.
David Moyes must act quickly if he wants to sign Lewandowski as other suitors may come up sooner rather than later, especially Manchester City who sold Balotelli last winter and are reportedly letting go Dzeko and Tevez as well. If Chelsea lure Cavani, expect Citizens to come after Lewandowski.
