Time for Tottenham Fans to Fear the Worst Again?

Time for Tottenham Fans to Fear the Worst Again?Despite all the prayers from North London, Chelsea defeated Manchester United thanks to a late goal from Spaniard Juan Mata. The vital three points means that blues are now in the driving seat to qualify for the Champions League. As things stand, may be it is time for Tottenham fans to fear the worst again.
Like last year, Spurs were moving swiftly towards Champions League qualification but once more their poor form over the past 2 months has helped Arsenal come back. Although Andre Villas Boas’s men still have the destiny in their hands but the history is clearly against them.
Tottenham will face Chelsea at Stamford Bridge in a few days’ time and that is one fixture that has probably come at the worst possible time for the North London side.
Spurs have not won a single game at Stamford Bridge for the past 23 years. The last time they won away at Chelsea was way back in 1990 when the visitors won 2-1
Blues were the main reason why Spurs were ousted from this year’s Champions League and that feat might as well be repeated if Benitez’s side can defeat them again on Wednesday. Despite their hectic schedule, Chelsea have been in brilliant form. They are favorites to win the Europa League and have almost secured the Champions league spot as well.
If Spurs do not win, that will put their arch rivals Arsenal in the driving seat to finish in top 4. Adding to that, gunners only have to play 2 games that are against the teams fighting to survive relegation i.e. Wigan Athletic and Newcastle United.
Gareth Bale is without doubt Tottenham’s only hope if they are to win against Chelsea away from home after a long long time. The PFA player of the year has carried the side single handedly majority of the times this season and it was his strike again that won them all three points against Southampton on Saturday.
Spurs had lost their last four fixtures against Manchester City and the sky blues were cruising towards the fifth until Bale turned up and ripped them apart at White Hart Lane. Surely, he has to be at his best again if Spurs are to end the drought against the in-form Chelsea side.
Tottenham fans are desperately waiting to take part in Europe’s elite competition again but the odds are very much against them. Why do they always mess up in the end to finish below Arsenal is a mystery and Spurs may as well have to deal with that pain again if they do fail to beat Chelsea.

Bale will do it for us again, no doubt

  2. Famea says:

Tottenham just cannot finish above Arsenal
They don’t want to it seems

man utd fan but i like spurs and you can’t keep relying on 1 man game after game because come the end of the season he will know he needs to move on if he wants to fulfill his promise/talent as a footballers career is a short 1

  4. ChavLoser says:

When spurs qualified for CL 2 seasons ago they had to beat Chavs and Fiddler before we won at Man City.
We completely mullered both CFC and AFC in those games to put us in the driving seat. I dont see the problem. Goonerwipes have a tougher call playing against Wigan and Newcastle.
    Yid Aaaaaaaaaaaaaarmy!

A chelsea fan. I’d like it if spurs finishes above the gooners. It all comes down to one match tho’. Up blues

  6. Let Arsenal and Spurs give chelsea way cause they are the proud of London . Chelsea third Arsenal forth spurs sorry.

Can we get something straight? Please!
Spurs didn’t ‘fail’ at anything last season – they finished 4th fair and square. The fact that Chelsea had a CL victory (a pretty improbable CL victory, really), meaning Spurs missed out on CL football this season, does not alter that one iota.

    • Understandable but wernt they 10-12 points clear of Arsenal and close to competing for title half way through the season. Then the 4th spot and losing out on CL is actually failure

  8. My Heart Is White says:

bigl, your desperation to have Bale in your team cannot be hidden in your comments. If you never had the officials, oh and van pusy in our team then where would you lot be? Nowhere!

    • bigl says:

i actually don’t think he’ll go to another prem team and i said i liked spurs as they play football the right way (with the ball on the floor) as do swansea. as for van persie do you really think we would not be challenging for the title lol

  9. My Heart Is White says:

Did you know that Arsenal have had at least 6 penalties this season? Do you know how many Spurs have had?
