The Right Price For Andy Carroll

The Right Price For Andy CarrollLiverpool are likely to let go record signing Andy Carroll in the upcoming transfer season but this time on permanent basis. West Ham have reiterated their desire to keep Carroll once his loan expires at the end of the current campaign.
The main question from Hammers’s viewpoint has always been that they do really need him but can they afford the Big man? On the other hand, as far as Liverpool are concerned, they will only sell the 35 million man at the right price. But, what is the right price for Andy Carroll?
The British record signing could only score 6 league goals for Liverpool in over 40 games last season and the reds were largely interested in selling him last summer. As no bid matched Liverpool’s asking price, they could only approve a loan deal for the ex Newcastle striker.
Liverpool wanted at least 18 million for Carroll last summer and may not look to alter that amount this year as Carroll is coming good for Hammers lately since his return from injury.
Last month, reports suggested that West Ham are ready to offer 10 million to sign the number 9 but does that really favor the Reds as Rodgers will be looking to add more funds to reinforce the squad for next season.
Another problem is Carroll’s current pay package. The England International is on 90k a week contract. Can West Ham pay him that much? Probably not. Will Carroll accept a pay cut to play for West Ham? Probably not. Will Liverpool look to keep him if no one offers considerable $$$ knowing the fact he will be earning 90k by mostly sitting on the bench? Probably not.
Whether or not West Ham can negotiate a suitable pay package with Carroll is another matter and we shall leave that aside for now. But what is the right price for Liverpool to sell the man who cost them a lot but just does not fit their system?
10 million? 15 million? 18 million?
