Pato Joins Club World Cup Champions

Pato Joins Club World Cup ChampionsBrazilian international Alexandre Pato returns to his native continent to join Club World Cup champions Corinthians. Pato had an injury hit career for AC Milan having signed for Rossoneri in 2007 and scored 63 times in 150 appearances for them.
Pato has signed a four-year contract and will be wearing the number “7” shirt for the Brazilian side.
Pato was considered one of the brightest young talents in the world but constant injuries have ruined his chances to shine for AC Milan as he only played more than 30 league games in a single season. During his tenure, he won two titles i.e. the Serie-A in 2010-11 and Super Coppa Italiana in 2011. Pato claimed:

“I am going to Corinthians in Brazil for the chance to play more frequently. I will not, however, easily forget Milan. I am and always will be tied to the shirt, its colours and all the Rossoneri fans.
“Above all this message goes out to them, at this time, both my thoughts and my greatest thanks.”

In the initial training sessions of the season, the Brazilian injured his thigh and did not feature in the first six months for the Rossoneri. He played his first game in late October.
By that time, young striker El Shaarawy had been a hit for Milan side and is currently the top scorer for them, which further reduced the playing opportunities for Pato.
Pato only featured in mere 7 games for Milan this season and with the FIFA World Cup only 18 odd months away, the 23 year old needs regular playing time to cement his place in the squad as Brazil have no shortage of quality players to compete for the spots.
